Memphis "Three deaths reported in Memphis due to the cold."
I know it's serious and all, but I'm having trouble mustering up any sympathy.
I think it's probably warmer than normal here, but I bet it's still colder than Memphis.

That's actually from a week ago. It's cloudy today, and the snow has blown around a lot since then.

Tell me a secret. Tell me something about you nobody knows, whether it's something dark and awful or something simple and silly.
I've turned anonymous commenting back on, but I've also turned on the captcha option (sorry!) to prevent spam. So, if you like, comment anonymously! It might be fun, like post secret. Or, if you want me to know who you are, just comment normally.
Here's one about me. I have good teeth. Never had a cavity, nor braces, nor anything. (I mean they're not perfect, but they're not all snaggly or anything.)
I'll leave it public so anyone can post.
Don't disappoint me!!
No. Seriously. Don't disappoint me.
Edit: That was fast! :D Hope they keep coming. This is oddly entertaining.

It's cold. It's -25F right now, which is a whopping 57 degrees below freezing. There's not much wind, luckily, or wow.
My aunt is flying in from Portland tonight, where it's 50F (above zero, obviously) and was probably 60 or 65 when she got on the plane.
That's gonna be a heck of a shock. And my mom has to go pick her up in this cold, dark night, the poor woman.
It's actually rather awesome how cold it gets here. Not awesome as in, whoa, awesome dude, but awesome as in... good Lord... is this still the same planet and/or have we begun to slowly drift away from the sun?

I have such a bizarre life. Gramma: "Where's Steve?"
Jesse: "He's dead!!"
G: "I wish..."
J: "You wish he was dead? Well he is. You got your wish. Hooray!"
G: "I'm afraid he's out doing himself harm."
J: "No, he's dead... We watched him die, and we were at the funeral."
G: "I got a new Prevention magazine today."
J: "I have gas."

I want people to say, "How accomplished and multi-talented! A real rennaissance man, that Dylan." Sometimes, when I'm watching a particularly well-written and acted show, I like to pretend I wrote the script. If I'm feeling more ambitious, I imagine I directed it, too, and I think about how fun it would be to make a cameo appearance or do a song for the sound track (or both).
Then I remember nobody knows who I am in this dimension, and I feel a little sad.
Aw.

Sleeping in can be bad. I slept until 2:30pm. I was exhausted and felt like I could have slept longer. Of course, now it's 2:30am (almost), and I'm not tired at all. Oops...
It was kind of weird being inside all day, too. It was getting dark by 4, totally dark by 5. It was nice and peaceful, but it's sort of like being in space or a vacuum or something. A little lonely! I don't like to admit that, though, because I've been wanting forever to have some time alone.
One night of decadent sleeplessness gives way to another, and my sleep schedule is screwed. :( Dang it.
TV is totally all infomercial. I almost got sold a workout program ("You can have a body like this in only 10 minutes a day!") til I saw the price. :)

Snowed in for Christmas I'd get some pics, but I forgot my camera over at Gramma's which, technically, is "home" for me now, but I still refer to where I am now, my old house (Mom's) as "home".
Anyway, there was a huge storm coming, and we planned it this way, that Mom and I would swap and I'd get snowed in over here with the cats. It's been really nice. I slept until 2:30pm, other than being woke at 10 by a call from Gramma looking for Linda (Mom, who was right beside her... but today Gramma says there are two Lindas). I'm using today just to recuperate, and tomorrow, while I'm still snowed in, I'm going to really get stuff done. It's great being alone with the cats, left to my own devices for the first time in months!
I might not even shower or exercise today. However, I do think I'll take a warm bath...
Anyway, there are five-foot snow drifts on the street and in the driveways, and the storm has really only hit its peak just now. It'll let up tomorrow at 6pm or so, and the plows will probably be done Sunday morning, and people will immediately be skidding around town again (if not before).
The winds are crazy, up to 40mph. It's definitely been colder here, but that doesn't mean it's not cold now, probably -30F with wind chill. There are still people out trying to drive around and whatnot, though. They had to block the highways because people insisted on driving.
I had a good Christmas Eve with Mom and Gramma yesterday, and it would have been kind of fun to be with them today, too, but I really needed this break and peace and quiet. I feel a little bad for Mom being alone with Granny, but she says I need the break (and she's right!). Being with Gramma isn't so bad when others are there, but being alone with her can be tough. Soon my aunt will be living in town to help, and that'll be a huge relief for us.
A Christmas Story is just finishing up its last run of the year. I've had it on non-stop since it started yesterday at this time except for when I was sleeping and when the Ice Skating show (ha) was on.
There are 12 days of Christmas, but since the shopping is finished on Christmas Eve, in America, Christmas is only one day long (and the Christmas shopping season beforehand is 30).

Iceskating... I wait and wait through this damn iceskating swho (sorry, I'm not feeling Improv Ice) to see the Goo Goo Dolls perform their new songs, and a God**** weather report interrupts them?
wtf...
I can freaking see it's snowing outside, and anyone who goes out and tries to drive is obviously too stupid to know how to turn on a TV anyway.
Or maybe the Improv Ice audience is exactly the demographic that needs to be reminded not to drive in 5 feet of snow with 40mph winds and -25F windchill. :)
No offense, skating fans...
It looks to me like these ice folks and their sponsors are doing some very fine things for the community, though. Thumbs up to that.
Now some bimbo is going to skate to the Goos playing Slide. :) hee hee...
And, in defense of my local station, I keep seeing a LOT of ding-dongs driving around. Jeez, seriously. Stay home.
NOW GET OFF THE TV! The Goos are on!!

Poland is freaking beautiful. Poland. What an amazing country.
How do I know this? I downloaded and have been using a Poland theme for Windows 7. Heh...
Also, a great game developer, CD Projekt (I think it's spelled like that), creators of The Witcher (based upon an awesome Polish fantasy novel series) and a great website, GoG.com ("Good Old Games", purveyors of old PC games updated to run on modern computers, for cheap and with no DRM), is from there.
My, that was a long sentence.
A really cool tarot deck that I've always wanted comes from Poland, too. Can't remember its name, as it's in Polish.
I also have a great Moon Phase gadget on my desktop that displays the moon and how it looks from where I am on the planet (here, as a matter of fact).
I'd like to visit Poland someday, though I'm not sure I want to learn any Polish (or maybe there's always room for more language in a brain).
As an aside, I'm sleeping at home tonight for the first time in absolutely forever. I hope Mom does okay sleeping here with Gramma. Tomorrow, we might be totally snowed in. I'll probably still walk over, but I wouldn't want Mom doing that. It will be treachorous.
Spellcheck. Come on. I know that's not how you spell it. Treacherous?
Well, spellcheck is AFK, but w/e, idc! lol bbl!

brr Despite my complaining, the weather this winter has actually been quite nice. Last night, in fact, I was outside shoveling, and it was gloriously beautiful. There were glimmers of the setting sun behind the black clouds at dusk as the snow fell. The temperature was 25F (just below freezing for any Celsius-users out there who are conversion-impaired like me), and I was thoroughly enjoying being outside.
However, twas the calm before the storm, as they say. Before I'd finished shoveling, the wind came up and the temperature dropped.
This morning, it's -25F (for Celsius people that converts to ASS COLD--more than 50 degrees below freezing), winds howling, snowbanks everywhere. We figure we will not be able to leave our houses on Christmas morning.
Mom is considering staying here with Gramma and letting me be trapped at home instead. I think I could use the vacation.

I like pumpkins partly cause they're orange. Gramma was at the table and said, "Boy, I'm half asleep."
I said, "Well, I'll get you half a pillow, and you can half-sleep on half the table." Then I said, "HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa........"
She said, "What?"

![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/96138684/1540464) [Link] | So the big question is, "Well, do I just dump all those unwanted things and try to start fresh?" And we say, no. You just set the Tone, where you are, by looking for things to appreciate. And by setting your Tone in a very clear deliberate way, anything that doesn't match it gravitates out of your experience, and anything that does match it gravitates into your experience. It is so much simpler than most of you are allowing yourself to believe. --- Abraham Excerpted from the workshop in Boston, MA on Saturday, October 4th, 1997 #297

And again... Lost it with poor Granny again tonight. She told me, "You need to stop and think about reality for a while," and that was just too much for me. :( I told her she had dementia and was upsetting me and she needed to go to bed. Ha. I'm sure I looked angry, though.
I have learned today that I really just need to humor her. It's just hard because I feel like I'm lying to her. But the truth doesn't work at all anyway.
I thought at one point tonight, "I simply cannot do this anymore."
But, now I think that this is one of those bad days that makes every day after it much better.
